via uphaa.com I love this kind of stuff. Making use of the viewer's intended point of view and perspective to create an illusion. When viewed from the targeted point, it appears as a specific object represented in space (in the example above, a line seeming to bounce up and down). But when viewed from other angles, you see how it was actually painted to give the intended effect. 10 more great examples at the above link.
via loodzwaar.com I don't care of this nine-year old boy can ever make this shot again, he did it once and it's awesome! It's even more incredible in slow motion.
Since then, verses of the Quran in Arabic script have appeared -- and then faded away -- on the infant's back, arms, leg and stomach, his parents and local officials say. via news.aol.com This is rather sickening. Forget about the misguided people making the trek to see him, can't someone get this child out of the hands of his abusive parents?
via thetoyzone.com It's amazing how far some of this stuff goes. The mental Teddy Bears above are pretty mild compared to some. From toys a bit too suggestive, to those screaming racism, to those...

via dornob.com These beautiful full-building murals make great use of perspective to provide an optical illusion said to look good from nearly every angle. The attention to detail is fascinating. I'd love to see one of these close up. A couple more pictures at the above link.
via nowthatsnifty.blogspot.com Coke with bacon? I'm not so sure about that. How about bacon floss? Or even squeeze bacon (ugh!). These and many more at the above link.
Saudi Arabia is trying to enlist other oil-producing countries to support a provocative idea: if wealthy countries reduce their oil consumption to combat global warming, they should pay compensation to oil producers. via nytimes.com Amazing, yet as ridiculous as it sounds I'm not sure what other options they think they have. Without oil their economy is all but nonexistent. The rest of the world needs the oil and, for better or worse, is in a much better place when the Saudi's are more cooperative than...
I live in Southern CA and see the impact all around me. The original graphic is animated; go to the original site and play it there. It's green most of time (except when you see the impact of hurricane...
